Across 27 trim rows the height spread is 2.1 in — far wider than any earlier generation — and our model puts the stock-height ceiling at 32.7 in, a 33 with no lift.

What tire sizes did the 4th gen Tacoma come with?

The fourth generation is the best-documented Tacoma in this repo. All 3 model years — 2024, 2025, and 2026 — have their own row sets, 27 rows in total across 12 trim labels, and unlike the three generations before it there is no pre-dataset model year to caveat.

There is still one caution, and it is a specific one. 2025 is the exception in this generation: its rows were never proven against a year-specific Toyota document, and the dataset records a re-verification pass that retrieved nothing to change that. The 2024 and 2026 rows carry trim-level sourcing; the 2025 rows carry a pattern.

How big are the 4th-gen factory sizes in inches?

Where the third generation kept every factory size at the same rolling height, the fourth deliberately does not. Its 4 metric sizes run from 245/70R17 at 30.5 in to 265/70R18 at 32.6 in — a spread of 2.1 in, against 0.14 in for the generation before it. Tire height became a trim differentiator.

The generation's nominal "33 in" rows are absent here: they state a height and nothing else, and no width or sidewall may be derived for them.

The two wheel diameters split that range rather than duplicating it. The 2 17-inch sizes (245/70R17 and 265/70R17) cover 30.5 in to 31.6 in, and the 2 18-inch sizes (265/65R18 and 265/70R18) cover 31.6 in to 32.6 in. Choosing a wheel diameter no longer chooses your tire height for you, which was effectively what it did on the third gen.

What is the max tire size on a 4th gen Tacoma?

The fourth-gen entry in our fitment matrix is the most permissive of the four by a wide margin, and the difference shows at the very first tier: the stock ceiling is 285/70R17 at about 32.7 in, a 33 with no trimming expected. On the third gen that same size sits two tiers up and brings a cab mount chop with it.

  • 4th-gen stock offset is very high (+55 to +60 mm); tires tuck deep. A lower offset or spacer improves the look but adds rub.
  • Crash-plate removal replaces the permanent 3rd-gen cab mount chop.
  • No cab mount chop needed on the 4th gen for 35s.
  • 37s require actual sheet-metal cutting even on the 4th gen.

The generation matrix carries one more note at this tier — "The big 4th-gen win: 33s (285/70R17 or 275/70R18) fit stock, no trimming." — and the upgrade table further down overrules it. 285/70R17 sits at stock height with minor changes in the per-size rules and 275/70R18 sits at leveling kit (1-2 in) with minor changes in the per-size rules. Where the two disagree this page publishes the conservative claim, so read the note as the matrix's roomiest case rather than as a settled bolt-on fit, and treat both as modeled estimates.

The clearance work differs in kind, not just in degree. Where the third gen's upper tiers name a cab mount chop, this generation's name crash-plate removal, which the matrix describes as a reversible two-bolt job, and sheet metal is only mentioned at the very top. This is also the only generation in the matrix that models a 37.0 in tire at all.

Every ceiling above assumes stock-style offset

Offset moves these numbers before anything else does. Ask the estimator for the same 4th-gen tier with an aggressive offset and it adds one line to the verdict: Negative offset / spacers add outer poke — expect more fender, liner, and full-lock rub.

The last two columns are what a speedometer and odometer calibrated for that size get wrong on each of the others; the geometry is exact, the calibration assumption is the model.

Toyota calibrates each configuration for the tire it ships, so a factory 265/70R18 truck is not driving around with a 6.9% error — the column is what happens if you move a tire between configurations, which is exactly what a wheel-and-tire package swap between trims does. Go the other way and it matters more: fitting 245/70R17 to a truck calibrated for 265/70R18 would have an indicated 60 mph reading over the true speed by roughly the same margin, and the modeled 37x12.50R17 ceiling is 21.3% out on its own.

4th gen Tacoma fitment quirks the data actually shows

What follows is what the 27 fourth-gen rows actually record. Bracket and bumper specifics that owners report but the dataset does not hold are out of scope on this page.

  • Not one fourth-gen row uses the P-metric prefix that every third-gen row carries. The dataset writes these sizes bare (245/70R17, 265/65R18, 265/70R17, and 265/70R18), which is the clearest textual marker of the generation change anywhere in the fitment file.
  • Wheel diameters are 17 in and 18 in only. The 16-inch wheel that carried the third generation's off-road trims appears on no fourth-gen row at all — the off-road rows moved up a size rather than down.
  • 5 rows state a nominal "33 in" tire with no metric size behind it (Trailhunter, TRD Pro, and TRD Off-Road i-FORCE MAX), and every one of them is on an 18-inch wheel.
  • 8 rows name a factory tire brand — Goodyear Territory R/T, Falken WildPeak, Goodyear Rugged-Terrain, and Goodyear — against 19 that record only a tire type. The named rows cluster on the rugged-terrain and i-FORCE MAX off-road configurations.
  • The generation's tallest metric size, 265/70R18 at 32.6 in, is taller than every factory size in the three earlier generation families put together; the tallest of those is 31.0 in, and the tallest third-gen size is 30.6 in.
  • Configuration matters as much as trim on several rows: the dataset separates i-FORCE from i-FORCE MAX, XtraCab from Double Cab, and package rows from standard ones, and those splits change the wheel and the size inside a single trim name.
  • 6 of the 27 rows are package- or configuration-dependent, and 3 of those are hedged as "likely standard by trim/configuration" — all 3 in 2025. The table above prints that wording untouched: the hedge is the dataset telling you which rows it will not vouch for.
